Measures of central Tendency

3 numbers used to describe the centre of a set of data are the mean, medium and mode.

 

Mean   -also known as average

            -calculate by adding the numbers and dividing by the # of numbers added

 

Median -the middle number when the numbers are arranged in order

            -if there are 2 middle numbers, the median is the mean of both numbers

 

Mode   -the number that occurs most often 

            -a set of data can have 1 mode, more then 1 mode, or no mode
